Meeting with Ambassadors on the issue of Loneliness and Isolation(June 26, 2025)
On June 26, 2025, ”Meeting with Ambassadors on the Issue of Loneliness and Isolation" was held. MIHARA Junko, Minister for Loneliness and Isolation, exchanged views with ambassadors and representatives from 11 countries and regions on how to address these issues.
Loneliness and Isolation became more visible and severe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it has subsided, Loneliness and Isolation remains to be a social challenge. It can affect anyone at any stage of life, and are urgent challenges across countries and regions. Therefore, it is important to share our experiences and promote cooperation through international collaboration.
At the meeting, based on these ideas, Japan shared its current efforts and approach as well as collaboration among government, private, and NGO sectors to address Loneliness and Isolation.
Ambassadors and representatives from participating countries and regions also introduced their own national efforts and private sector initiatives.
This exchange helped to deepen mutual understanding, promote the advancement of measures, and strengthen international cooperation in addressing Loneliness and Isolation.
