　３月８日の「国際女性の日」に寄せて、黄川田⼥性活躍担当⼤⾂・内閣府特命担当⼤⾂（男⼥共同参画）よりメッセージを発信しました。全文は以下の通りです。

「国際女性の日」に寄せた黄川田大臣メッセージ

皆さん、こんにちは。女性活躍・男女共同参画担当大臣の黄川田仁志です。

３月８日は「国際女性の日」です。この日には、政治、経済、文化などあらゆる面において、どこまで女性がその可能性を広げてきたかを確認し、更に歩みを進めるための決意を新たにする日として、国内外で、女性活躍・男女共同参画に関する様々な取組が行われます。
女性活躍・男女共同参画に取り組む我が国と世界の皆様の御努力、御尽力に対し、心からの敬意を表し、感謝を申し上げます。また、志を同じくする皆様と共に、「国際女性の日」をお祝いしたいと思います。

我が国では、昨年、憲政史上初めて、女性の内閣総理大臣が誕生しました。
これは、いわゆる「ガラスの天井」を突破する画期的なことです。日本の政治の中心に女性がいることによって、「政治は男性が行うものだ」という思い込みをなくし、多くの女性が「私たちも頑張ろう」と勇気づけられることにつながったのではないかと考えています。そして、今後更に、政治、経済などあらゆる分野で、女性の活躍が加速していくことを期待しています。

日本政府においては、希望する働き方を選択でき、その能力を十分に発揮できる社会の実現に向けた取組を進めてまいります。また、社会のあらゆる意思決定に女性が参画することを官民共通の目標として取り組んでまいります。

４月には、女性活躍・男女共同参画を推進するナショナルセンターとして、独立行政法人男女共同参画機構が新たに設立される予定です。本機構は、女性活躍・男女共同参画の推進に関し、課題の解決に取り組む地方公共団体や男女共同参画センター等を支援します。それを通じて、全国の女性活躍・男女共同参画の取組を後押ししてまいります。
さらに、国際会議などの機会を捉えて、我が国の取組を内外に示すとともに、国際社会との協調の下、政策を前進させてまいります。

結びに、女性活躍・男女共同参画政策の推進を通じて、国民一人一人の幸せにつなげていくことを担当大臣としてお誓いし、「国際女性の日」に寄せる私のメッセージといたします。
 

Minister’s Message on International Women’s Day 2026

Ladies and gentlemen, I am KIKAWADA Hitoshi, Minister in charge of Women’s Empowerment and Minister of Gender Equality.

March 8 is International Women’s Day. On this day, various initiatives related to women’s empowerment and gender equality are carried out in Japan and around the world. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on how far women have expanded their potential in fields such as politics, the economy, and culture, and to renew our determination to make further progress.

I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to everyone who is devoted to promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality. I also wish to celebrate this important day together with all of you who share the same aspirations.

Last year in Japan, for the first time in our constitutional history, a woman was appointed Prime Minister. This groundbreaking development broke through the so‑called “glass ceiling.” Having a woman at the center of Japanese politics has helped dispel the assumption that “politics is conducted by men,” and has encouraged many women to challenge themselves. I hope that women’s empowerment will continue to accelerate in politics, the economy, and all other sectors.

The Government of Japan will continue to advance initiatives that allow all workers to choose the working style they desire and fully demonstrate their abilities. We will also work to ensure that women participate in decision‑making in all areas of society, making this a shared goal of both the public and private sectors.

In April, the Japan Gender Equality Promotion Agency will be established as a national center for the promotion of women’s empowerment and gender equality. This agency will provide strong support to local governments, gender equality centers, and other organizations addressing various challenges, thereby bolstering efforts nationwide.

Furthermore, we would like to share Japan’s initiatives with not only the Japanese people but people around the world by making use of international conferences, and we will continue moving forward in cooperation with the international community.

Finally, as the minister responsible for women’s empowerment and gender equality, I would like to conclude my message on this International Women’s Day with a pledge to continue promoting policies that contribute to the happiness of every member of society.
